Rosemary dye
Dye Experiment Materials:

79 grams of fresh rosemary
-
(pre-washed) silk and and cotton fabric (cut into 6x6" squares)

pot (not used for cooking
-
strainer

Fabric preparation:

Add 1/2 gallon of water to a pot.

Mix 8tsp of alum with 1 cup of hot water.

Bring pot to boil and add fabric.

Simmer pot for one hour.

Leave overnight to cool down.

Rinse fabric under warm water.

Dye bath: ​

Fill the pot with water halfway.

Bring to boil.

Add rosemary to pot.
-
Simmer pot for 1 hour.

Strain rosemary out of dye bath.

Bring pot to boil.
-
Add fabric.
-
Simmer for one 1 hour.*

Turn off heat and let fabric sit in dye bath overnight (I left mine in for 17 hours total).
*I added an additional three cups of water as some of the water evaporated due to all the heat.
